A wooded resort valley a mile above Tahoe City — ceremony lawn, mountain deck, and ballroom in one self-contained campus.
Granlibakken hides in its own forested valley just south of Tahoe City — a resort and conference campus whose name is Norwegian for "a hillside sheltered by fir trees," which is precisely the setting. Weddings move through the property in stages: ceremonies on the Big Pine Lawn or the tiered Mountain Deck, receptions in the Mountain Ballroom, and elopements and micro-weddings in the lodge's smaller venues, with capacity stretching to around 250 guests.
The resort's pitch is the self-contained weekend — on-site catering, the Lighthouse Spa, and lodging that runs from standard rooms to two-bedroom townhomes, all a short walk from the ceremony. The lake is a five-minute drive down the hill, but nothing about the wedding itself requires leaving the trees.
