Nevada's turquoise cove — boulder-framed sand, the clearest water on the lake, and Shakespeare on summer nights.
Sand Harbor is the east shore distilled: white sand and smooth granite boulders framing water so clear the kayaks look airborne. It's the lake's most-photographed swimming beach, plus boat launch, picnic areas, hiking trail, a visitor center — and, each summer, the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival playing an amphitheater whose backdrop is the lake itself.
The fine print matters in peak season: from May 15 through September 30, vehicle entry requires a day-use reservation via ReserveNevada, and stopping or dropping off along Highway 28 outside designated parking is prohibited. Fees run $10 for Nevada vehicles, $15 for out-of-state, $2 per bike — the East Shore Trail from Incline Village makes the bike option genuinely pleasant.
