A Gilded Age summer estate inside a state park — vows at the waterline, dinner on the mansion lawn, and a queue that opens by email once a year.
The Hellman-Ehrman Mansion anchors Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park on the quiet west shore south of Tahoma — a 1903 summer estate whose lawn runs down toward the water through old-growth pines. Weddings use two sites: a lakefront ceremony spot seating up to 100, and the event lawn in front of the mansion for receptions of the same size. The mansion's interior stays a museum (summer tours only) — the architecture is your backdrop, not your ballroom.
California State Parks runs the bookings with civic precision: the season spans June 1 to September 16, combination ceremony-and-receptions book Fridays through Sundays, holiday weekends are off the table, and 2027 dates open by email at exactly 5:00 a.m. PST on June 6, 2026 — first-come, first-served, with a $1,000 deposit sealing the date. It is the rare marquee venue where the process is published to the minute.
